Sandwich Glass Company 3
__Among the fruit weights the strawberry takes first place, although not many of these were produced. The image below on the left, shows a weight containing five strawberries, with blossoms and leaves, which is so beautifully done that the berries look good enough to eat. This is being copied today in a larger weight with lighter green leaves. Another fruit weight is shown on the right.
Doorknobs
Shown below are three examples of glass doorknobs On the left is a Clichy; in the center is a Baccarat with cameos of Lafayetter in one knob and Franklin in the other; and on the right is an elaborately cut, mercury-filled type made at Sandwich. Deeming Jarves took out two patents on door knobs in 1840, and many of those made in his factory resemble copies of paperweights.
Sandwich Glass Buttons
_In their lamp room at Sandwich small glass buttons were made containing small roses and green leaves and rescmbling miniature paperweights. These can easily be distinguished from similar buttons made at the factory in Muncie, Indiana, because the latter had blue leaves. Sandwich paperweights are occasionally found which bear the date 1852. A few were made with the last two figures transposed on the center flower so that the date reads 1825 but we know that this is an error because they were not being made at that date.
_Sandwich tried to imitate the lacy bead effect achieved by the St. Louis factory in plates and vases, but their results were crude in comparison. They also tried to copy the St.Louis crown weight, but again the results were inferior, and it is not hard to distinguish between the two products.
