Nailseal English Paperweights 2
_The high-crowned green glass paperweights with the filmy or silver flowerpots out of which grows a flower of the same composition are from Nailsea; likewise the weight containing the small bubble-formed pattern. These were made in the latter part of the 19th Century: all the earlier weights were of a light green shade.

_It is often difficult to distinguish between Bristol and Naailsea green glass. It may be claimed, however, that the brighter pieces are Bristol and the softer colors are Nailsea-while the very softest of all the greens arc Castleford.
The Nailsca output was varied and unusual. It included scent bottles; double headed flasks, varying in height from 3 1/2 to 10 1/2 inches, with pink, blue, or milky white ribbon loops; rolling pins; bells; walking sticks; pipes; and sweetmeat glasses. The coach horn of white glass, 40 inches long, was used to hand up drinks to the driver of the old stage coaches. Despite the belief of most people that glass tea and coffee urns are modern innovations, glass tea kettles with acorn knobs were made many years ago at Nailsea.

_The Nailsea factory never produced cut glass-the only cutting known was in their occasional production of small squares of windowglass.
